Macbook Pro
A few days ago, I finally ordered a 15″ 2.33 Ghz MacBook Pro from the “hot deals” section of the Apple Store. They don’t show up there for long, when I ordered mine they disappeared only a few hours later. Being a “hot deal” means the laptop I received was actually owned and/or broken by someone else, but has been:
- is fully tested (including full burn-in testing).
- is refurbished with replacement parts for any defective modules identified in testing.
- is put through a thorough cleaning process and inspection.
- is repackaged (including appropriate manuals, cables, new boxes, etc.).
- includes the operating software originally shipped with the unit and the custom software offered with that system. See each products “Learn More” for more details.
- is given a new refurbished part number and serial number.
- is placed into a Final QA inspection prior to being added to sellable refurbished stock.
According to Apple’s site. I’m willing to take that for a $500 discount!
So far, this thing has been awesome. Not only is it blazingly fast compared to the G4 iBook, but the keyboard feels much nicer and it seems lighter even though the physical dimensions make it larger. I’ve been playing with Boot Camp, and managed to get Windows installed on the secondary partition. I’ll probably end up using it for games that won’t run under OS X.
Anyone who is familiar with The Linux Fix also knows I’m huge into VMWare, and just recently VMWare released Fusion Beta, which runs standard VMWare virtual machines on any Intel Mac. Nice.
Oh yea, and the keyboard lights up when the room is dark!
